BOURNEMOUTH WARD 2008 MAY DEVOTION

The Bournemouth May Devotion was held on Saturday 17th May at St Stephen's Bournemouth and was exceptionally well attended with some 50 members and friends, including visitors from the Yeovil and Portsmouth Wards; in fact there is an increasing sharing of certain Marian festivals with the Portsmouth Ward.

We were privileged that Fr Daniel Humphreys visited Bournemouth from St Augustine Kilburn, London , and sung the Solemn Mass at 12noon as well as preaching during Vespers. The Officiant for the afternoon Vespers, Procession of Our Lady and Benediction was Fr Roger Calder, the Portsmouth Ward Superior.

Fr Humphreys preached from the Vespers scripture reading of Samuel 15: 22 Obedience is better than sacrifice and submission better than the fat rams to show how Our Lady was totally obedient and submissive to God’s will and encouraged members to follow her example.

Finally, the day concluded with the admission to The Society of one new member.

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
